Jefferson County Schools

Welcome to Jefferson County Schools. Fantastic things are happening here! We're off to a good start, so come back often and see how we progress!

Student achievement is determined by testing. ACT scores put Jefferson County ahead of the state average. The High School Exit Exam is passed by 5% more students in our county than the state. Steady improvement is being shown on the Basic Competency Test. Each year we have about 15 semi-finalists for the SAT with eight to ten becoming National Merit Scholars.

The Jefferson County Public Education Foundation rewards excellence in the county's 60+ schools. Kids Count Coupon sales account for the funding of the Foundation. They, in turn, sponsor 50 - $500 grants, offer $300 for the "best idea" reward which can be for cost saving/cost efficiency or problem solving, and money in support of VIP (Very Important Parents-Program). Many other worth-while projects are also sponsored by the Foundation.

Currently the county is undergoing improvements and renovations at many schools, as well as, new school construction at several sites. 150 new buses have been purchased at a cost of $5.6 million.
