2012 Annual Contemplative Conference

Contemplative Practices:
The Welcoming Prayer and The Forgiveness Prayer

March 10, 2012
at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church
3775 Crosshaven Drive, Birmingham, AL

WELCOMING PRAYER-- Ever feel that once you leave the silence of Centering Prayer you are bombarded by the "ordinary routines of daily life"?  Fr. Thomas Keating teaches that dealing with those "ordinary routines of daily life" is the path of holiness for lay folks.  The Welcoming Prayer is a wonderful tool to take our consent to God's presence and action into daily life in the midst of those ordinary routines....and enables us to live 'ordinary lives with extraordinary love'.

FORGIVENESS PRAYER-- At the heart of the Christian Journey is forgiveness, and yet it is the one practice most often misunderstood.  This simple, yet powerful meditation practice allows grace to transform our relationships (with others, God and even with ourselves) from the inside out.
