AOS Winter Meeting 2000 - Navarre Beach, FL

The AOS winter meeting will be in Navarre Beach, Florida January 28-30, 2000. When we last met there almost ten years ago, we had some very good birds, including a near-shore White-tailed Tropicbird and a rare January Black Tern.

The Holiday Inn - The Tropics is holding a block of 50 rooms for AOS (and its guests) until December 15, after which they are available to anyone.  The special room rate is $64 per night. If we rent 40 rooms, AOS does not have to pay for the meeting room.   To make reservations, people should call 850-939-2321 or 888-277-8667. Be sure to say you want one of the AOS rooms.

Our speaker will be Bob Russell from Louisiana State University.  He will report on some of the interesting findings from the migration study his group is conducting in the Gulf of Mexico.

The setting at Navarre Beach offers an added bonus for people with non-birding spouses, a white sand beach that can delight even birding-phobics.  Make your plans today, and we hope to see you there!
