AOS Conservation Committee

The AOS has a standing Conservation Committee which has long been a prominent voice for the preservation of habitat, especially the critical areas, and for the protection of species in crisis, often by calling for protections of wintering or breeding grounds.

Recent Committee Activities:

12/20/00 - Click here to read the 2000 Conservation Committee Report regarding the status of several projects that the committee has been involved in.

04/11/00 - Participate in the Partner's In Flight Migration Monitoring program.  To read more about this program and to download monitoring forms, please go to the Partner's in Flight page.

The AOS Conservation Committee recently submitted a letter to the mayor of Anniston, AL, regarding the city's efforts to set aside the forested portions of Fort McClellan (that has been deactivated from military usage) for a wildlife refuge.  Click here to read the letter expressing the AOS position regarding the use of this land.

The Conservation Committee recently submitted a letter to the mayor of Dauphin Island regarding limits on future construction projects on the Dauphin Island beachfront.  Click here to read the letter expressing the AOS position regarding future building projects.
